This is an illustrated novel and I LOVED all of them. Of course, I am a huge Wreck-It Ralph fan, so this novel would have brought me joy even without all the great messages and whimsical images. I love how supportive the dad is even when Molly changes her design plans he just rolls with it. There's even a part in the novel where one of the male racers says maybe people should just like things and not make it a boy or girl thing and that stuck with me. Her parents have a talk about how being the first to do something can be scary and how people may not always be excited or kind about it, but they 110% support her. Messages that are powerful in the classroom or out of it: Molly is the first girl to join a boy scouts troop because she loves go karts and racing and that's the only place she can race. What I loved: the realistic vibe of this novel in terms of friendships, family relationships, miscommunications and being unique After some adjusting to the new way of gaming/technology, they befriend Molly and vow to help her go-kart racing dreams come true!
